Annie has a secret. But if she's not going to tell, we won't either. As well as battling daily with her secret, Annie is falling in love for the first time... Aged thirty-two. Kate has run away. But she's not going to tell us why - that would defeat the point of running, wouldn't it? It's proving difficult to reinvent herself, however, with one man always on her mind. Scratch beneath the surface and nobody is really who they seem. Even Annie and Kate, two old friends, aren't entirely sure who they are any more. Perhaps you can work it out, before their pasts catch up with them for good . . . A gripping and unpredictable story of two young women running from their pasts. Will you guess the twist? The Day We Disappeared will have you up reading until the small hours . . . Expect tears, laughter and plenty of twists and turns. Occasional strong language.

This books settles it. Lucy Robinson is one of my ABSOLUTE favorite authors, right there with Marian Keyes, Cecelia Ahern and Alexandra Potter. Her books have ingredients of those three wonderful writers and they are a delight.

I must say that this one does not read as easily as her previous ones, but just because the topic, what her characters go through, is much more intricate and complicated. I love to discover how her plots mature and yet she does not loses her initial charm.

This one is really an excellent novel. It's a page turner but that has it's own pace. It will leave you feeling good about life, but not in a mellow, unrealistic way. Life is tough, bad things do happen, and yet with the help of those who love us best and care for is we can get through anything. This is the message of the book, and it's delivered majestically

i really enjoyed this book.
Again, Lucy Robinson has created a story that evokes emotions of curiosity, sadness, empathy, anger, and loathing as well as humor, hopefulness, relief, and appreciation for the power of friendships and love.

The story follows Annie and Kate, friends who have had traumatic life experiences that affect their ability to develop trusting relationships. Annie doesn’t speak of her secret while Kate chooses to run away.

I feel Annie presents as a vulnerable woman who wants to overcome her past and experience love and as the reader I just wanted to hug her and at times, shake and yell at her. I wanted to protect her and fight for her and wanted to see her fall in love (because I love a good love story). Where Annie seems vulnerable, Kate appears confident in her ability to adapt to her environment despite what she is running from. I found myself favoring Kate to Annie, but I’m confident it is partially due to my love for her boss, Mark, and the secondary characters surrounding her.

There were many times throughout the story where I muttered a few f-bombs toward Lucy during the plot twists and had to remind myself that like her other novels, it would work out in the end. I felt this story delved into deeper issues than her past novels and I appreciate the amount of research Lucy must have conducted to make the story realistic.

Lucy is by far one of my favorite authors and I was so excited when the book was released but had a great disappointment when I realized it wasn’t released in the US. I was ridiculously excited when I received my copy in the mail (and it makes me feel so fancy when I receive mail from the UK). I feel connected to her characters and always find some element within her stories to which I can relate. I appreciate her wit and humor and value her ability to create a story that resonates with me days after I finish her books.
Lucy Robinson does not disappoint! She writes such compelling stories about complex women with great emotional depth. She’s particularly good with twists that you don’t see coming, especially in this book. You know how some stories in this genre have protagonists who go on for page after page, breaking down and re-living their reactions to something that’s just happened with their love interest? Well, no fear of that here. In fact, I checked my at one point only to be surprised that I was only halfway through the book - it was already so rich in plot and characters by that point, I was sure the book was going to wrap up soon. Lucky me, there was so much more! There is a really wonderful vulnerability with Robinson’s main characters, and their journeys to find their own strength are so real and satisfying because of Robinson’s beautiful storytelling. I can’t wait for her next book!
I cannot begin to tell you how much I enjoyed this book. I mean wow - where to start!

This is one of those books that would be very easy to spoil so I cannot give too much away. There is a great cast of characters all of which have been well developed. It is written from a dual perspective alternating between Kate and Annie who are harbouring their own secrets but Lucy isn't going to tell us so our investigative skills will be put to the test.

We meet Kate first who starts as a trainee at a stable yard but she has no experience of horses but has to make a go of it as she has nowhere else to go and no one must find out where she is.

Annie, a masseuse, who after a tragic incident during her childhood has never been the same but when she meets the handsome Stephen, suddenly she feels that good things are finally happening but it is all a bit quick?

This was such a clever and riveting story with an amazing plot and the twist had me sitting up straight and gobsmacked! If you have not read this book yet then put it on your 'to read' list immediately it will not disappoint
